In 1961, the United States and Canada agreed to jointly develop and operate dams on the Columbia River for flood control and electrical power generation. Their agreement, the Columbia River Treaty, expires in 2024. In this interview, Hydro Leader talks with Scott Simms, the CEO and executive director of the Public Power Council (PPC) and the chairman of the Columbia River Treaty Power Group, about the current negotiations to modernize the agreement as the deadline looms. Request to provide input
